How to Conduct an in-Person Draft

Learn how to prepare for your league's in-person draft

Are you planning on having your draft offline? Great! In-person draft parties are the best!

FanDraft was originally created as a digital alternative to the outdated “Sticker/Paper” draft boards. It’s best used by exporting your display to a large screen TV or digital projector for your whole league to enjoy.

Commissioner can control the entire draft and make selections on behalf of any or all of the owners, by turning on the "Commish Mode" option. While in "Commissioner Mode" remote owners still have the ability to make their own selections, but it just gives the commish the ability to make picks on behalf of other teams.

Perhaps a couple of your league-mates can't make the live draft. That is no problem at all, because they can still draft remotely as FanDraft allows for a combination of live in-person draft and remote drafters, all fully synced across between the web and your in-person draft.

Exporting your display

If you have a fairly modern TV and laptop, streaming/mirroring your laptop to a television is quite simple these days.

To cast to your big screen TV, you have several options:

Option 1a: Chromecast If you have Chromecast, simply open up Google Chrome and click on the Chromecast icon on the tab. Then cast your tab to the big screen. You can still use a different tab to draft for yourself as the commissioner.

Option 1b: Use AirPlay to stream what’s on your Mac to an HDTV: If you are using a Mac, this is a highly recommended option — see this link to learn more.

Option 2: HDMI

Another option is to simply plug an HDMI cable from your computer to your big screen TV.  The details are different depending on which type of computer or laptop you have.  In this case, your entire screen will be cast to the big screen.

You can make your browser tab go into full-screen mode by pressing Shift + Cmd + F.
